Welcoming Our New PhD Student – Jacob D. Silver

We are delighted to welcome Mr Jacob Silver to the group as our newest PhD student.

Jacob joins us from Fort Myers, Florida, USA, where he completed a Bachelor’s degree in Photonics at the University of Central Florida. During his undergraduate studies, he conducted research under Dr. Konstantin Vodopyanov, focusing on quasi-phase matching in gallium selenide stacks.

Jacob will be undertaking his PhD under the supervision of Ben and Moritz, with research interests including Brillouin systems, nonlinear dynamics, mid-infrared photonics, and biomedical applications. We are excited to have him contributing to these areas of research.

Outside the lab, Jacob is an Eagle Scout, an achievement that reflects his commitment to leadership, hard work, honesty, and making a positive impact in the community.

Welcome to the team, Jacob. We’re looking forward to seeing your research journey unfold!
